Wouldn't go from 1st to 2nd gear, but would go into reverse (in fact, when placing it in reverse, it would jump from directly from 1 to r with one push on down button). Do not down shift multiple gears quickly at hi speeds. Never hold the shift button down for more than 3 seconds for any reason.

After installation never shift from neutral to 1st gear or from neutral to reverse gear when the engine is running over 1200 rpm. Particularly when it is cold.

My problem was most likely different than yours. Put a 8mm wrench or socket on it and try to shift it up and down.

When she first starts out with a cold engine, shifing from 1st to 2nd, you have to hit the shift button 3 or 4 times before it will shift into 2nd. While plowing snow in february, the es started acting up.
